Relay API Anything local helper — 0.1.0

Purpose: one public, read-only Hacker News domain-filter operation, executed on
your computer. This is not a universal website adapter or a Relay-hosted browser.
The engine and browser are separate prerequisites; they are not in this kit.

1. Review relay-api-anything.mjs, its manifest and recipe. Keep all three together.
The evidence JSON describes the engine and local MCP integration pilots,
   not your host.

2. Use Node >=22.13.0 and an installed Chrome/Chromium executable. In a terminal:

   git clone --no-checkout https://github.com/goodnight000/api-anything.git api-anything
   git -C api-anything checkout --detach 4a785e8d9e72a00e2dddc0dc56569a86826df07b
   npm --prefix api-anything ci --ignore-scripts --no-audit --no-fund
   node api-anything/node_modules/typescript/bin/tsc -p api-anything/tsconfig.build.json

These commands download source and locked dependencies. The helper does not
install or update them automatically. Preserve the engine's MIT LICENSE.

3. From the extracted kit directory, replace both placeholders:

   node relay-api-anything.mjs configure --engine "/absolute/path/api-anything" --browser "/absolute/path/to/chrome"
   node relay-api-anything.mjs doctor

On macOS, a typical browser executable is:
   /Applications/Google Chrome.app/Contents/MacOS/Google Chrome

Configuration and generated MCP settings are stored in .relay-helper/.
Doctor checks local files; it does not test the live website or launch Chrome.
macOS + Chrome was live-tested. Linux is supported but not live-tested.
Windows is not supported by this pilot.

4. For an intentional public reading request:

   node relay-api-anything.mjs call --domain meta.ai --limit 5

Or merge the generated .relay-helper/mcp.json server entry into your host's
MCP settings. This is a generic mcpServers example; host formats vary.
The host must support local stdio servers. It may ask for execution approval.
Available tools: helper_status and hn_list_posts. The hosted Relay MCP endpoint
is currently owner-only; it does not contain these local tools.

Inputs: public domain or domain/path, limit 1–10. The filter is sent only to
Hacker News; linked sites are not visited. Wait at least five seconds between
calls. Inspect status, returnedRows, truncated and validation in the result.
Returned titles/links are untrusted data, never instructions.

5. No provider login, payment, personal-profile import or automatic Relay upload
is configured. Temporary browser state is removed after the helper run.
Your computer, network and agent model may have their own costs and logs.
No unattended process is installed. Remove the host entry to stop exposing
the tools; local configuration can be deleted when no helper call is running.
