# ToolSkipper > Find agent services and inspect source-backed capabilities, connection requirements and evidence gaps. Discovery is read-only. Public discovery works without sign-in or a ToolSkipper API key. Provider execution and private records require a separate signed-in connection. ToolSkipper is a curated catalogue with bounded deterministic matching and explicit filters. Listings, pricing reviews and connection guides are source-derived; they do not prove availability, quality or task success. Unknown values remain unknown. Search limits: query and optional queryEnglish each allow at most 200 characters after trimming (UTF-16 code units). queryEnglish requires a nonempty original query. Legacy search retains every condition in those fields; ToolSkipper rejects overlong API requests and never truncates or relaxes them. For a long or conditional request, use search_services or POST /api/services with requestJson: preserve the complete originalRequest (1–2000 Unicode characters), put focused service terms in query, and retain unresolved service requirements in requirements (up to 8 strings, each 1–200 Unicode characters). This caller-supplied separation is not verified by ToolSkipper. search.discovery labels results as metadata_candidates and conditions as unassessed. executionPolicy requires providerCalls:false, accountConnections:false and payments:false when supplied, and defaults to those values. It describes discovery-only actions, not whether a listed service is free. Read search.reasonCodes, warnings and appliedFilters. An empty result describes this catalogue, not every provider on the internet. ## Request limits Public website, REST discovery and /api/mcp share fixed UTC windows. Anonymous clients receive 120 requests per minute and 6000 per UTC day per network. Administrator-issued discovery keys allow 600 per minute and 50000 per day; send X-ToolSkipper-Key only to ToolSkipper, never in a URL. Keys grant no visitor identity, private records, execution or administrative permissions. Network and site-wide safety limits still apply. A 429 response includes Retry-After in seconds; stop and wait rather than retrying automatically. Never change IP addresses, omit a key or switch interfaces to evade a limit. Anonymous shared networks share quotas. The key is optional; normal discovery needs no sign-in. See /developers for details. ## Start here - [Discovery source checks](https://toolskipper.com/source-checks): Dated public-page fetch outcomes, source hashes and explicit holds. REST: GET /api/source-checks?limit=20. A readable page is not editorial approval or task success. - [Agent discovery examples](https://toolskipper.com/agent-examples): Three dated internal agent checks for LLM access, web research and PDF tables. Discovery receipts, preserved constraints and unresolved requirements; no end-to-end provider quality claim. - [Agent guide](https://toolskipper.com/agent-guide.md): Public MCP usage, strict search requests and access boundaries. - [Quick start](https://toolskipper.com/start): Human-readable connection instructions. - [Developer documentation](https://toolskipper.com/developers): REST and MCP integration. - [Public MCP descriptor](https://toolskipper.com/.well-known/mcp-server.json): Public, anonymous discovery endpoint and transport. - [ARD manifest](https://toolskipper.com/.well-known/ard.json): Static resource discovery using ARD v0.91 Proposal. ## Public data - [LLM API providers](https://toolskipper.com/llm-providers): Separate provider-level documentation observations for free quotas, evaluation and paid credits. REST: GET /api/llm-providers?planType=free-tier&limit=10. MCP: search_llm_providers with optional query, planType, limit and offset. Old plan observations become unknown after seven days. No model metadata, account check, live inference or payment. - [Discovered services](https://toolskipper.com/discovered): Automatically collected Official MCP Registry metadata, separate from editorially reviewed listings. - [Discovered search API](https://toolskipper.com/api/discovered?query=search&limit=20&offset=0): Paginated literal metadata search. MCP: search_discovered_services with requestJson {"query":"search","limit":20,"offset":0}. Authentication, pricing, availability and task fit remain unknown; no provider execution. Follow nextOffset; total counts deduplicated pending records, not verified providers. - [OpenAPI](https://toolskipper.com/api/openapi): Current request and response contracts. - [Published catalogue](https://toolskipper.com/api/catalogue): Current visible records; storage failure returns an error. - [Compact search](https://toolskipper.com/api/services?q=web%20search&protocol=MCP&view=compact): Search example with applied-filter receipt. - [Benchmark suite](https://toolskipper.com/api/benchmarks): Fixed cases and evaluation limits, not provider rankings. ## Optional - [API Anything local helper](https://toolskipper.com/helpers/api-anything): Optional local CLI/stdio MCP for a tested Hacker News read operation; requires host setup. - [Local helper manifest](https://toolskipper.com/api/helpers/api-anything): Setup metadata and scope; reading it does not execute or install anything. - [About ToolSkipper](https://toolskipper.com/about): Curation and evidence boundaries. - [Privacy](https://toolskipper.com/privacy): Storage and retention policy.
